Winter is arriving; use these tips to protect your hair and skin from the elements

Winter is adored because it has something enchanting to give everyone, regardless of where they are. People gather in the cold weather because they desire warmth, love, and connection. Vacations, festivals, and weddings necessitate large family feasts and perpetual thanks, and time appears to slow down a little. Not to mention the convenience of combining all of your favourite outfits into one and sipping hot cocoa.
Your skin and hair, on the other hand, despise the cold season and react angrily as soon as it arrives. Summer may be thought to be the worst season for your skin and hair—after all, the sun isn't exactly nice, is it? Summer can be bad for your hair and complexion, but winter isn't good for your body either. Rough, tight skin, chapped lips, brittle nails, and hair that seems like it desperately needs a vacation to some tropical Valhalla are all symptoms of winter dryness. These are common problems at this time of year, and they're not pretty! But what is it that causes them? For starters, a lack of humidity in the air causes your hair and skin to dry out. Furthermore, both the cold outside and the central heat inside drain moisture from strands and pores, leaving hair coarse and skin prickly and dry.
Try these clever skin and hair suggestions to seal in moisture and reverse winter damage when Mother Nature gives you an ice kiss

Keep these things in mind before waxing your face

Most women do wax to get rid of unwanted hair on the arms, legs, and back, but many women also have a lot of hair on their faces. If the hair is short and its growth is not high, then it can be removed with a thread, but when the growth is very high, then wax has to be used.

There is a big difference between getting wax on the face and getting wax on any other part of the body. If a small mistake is made while getting wax on the face, then it can become a life-long stain. In such a situation, some things need to be taken care of while waxing on the face.

How to Identify Your Hair Type: The Ultimate Guide

Introduction

Understanding your hair type is the foundational step toward building an effective hair care routine. Without knowing your hair type, you risk using products or styling methods that don’t suit your hair’s needs, leading to dryness, breakage, frizz, or limpness. In this guide, you will learn how to identify your hair type precisely — from curl pattern to texture, density, porosity, and more — so you can choose the best care for your unique strands.

In this article, you’ll discover:

  • The major components of “hair type” (curl pattern, texture, density, porosity, etc.)

  • Step-by-step tests you can do at home

  • Tips for interpreting results

  • Why it matters for product choice and styling

Let’s dive in.

What Does “Hair Type” Mean?

When people say “hair type,” they usually refer not to a single characteristic, but a combination of factors:

  1. Curl / wave / coil pattern

  2. Strand texture (fine, medium, coarse)

  3. Density (how many hairs per square inch)

  4. Porosity (how easily hair absorbs and retains moisture)

  5. Elasticity / strength / health

  6. Other factors, like hair thickness, length, and whether your hair is chemically treated

By combining these, you get a more complete picture of your hair. Two people may both have “curly hair,” but one might have fine, low-density hair, while the other has coarse, high-density curls. Their care needs will differ.

Many hair care systems (such as the Andre Walker system) focus primarily on curl / coil pattern as the first dimension.

Below we break down each dimension and show you how to test and interpret.
